Mysore - Kolhapur 

The mahalaxmi maa in Kolhapur is the wife of sri Venkateshwara swamy in Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh. It is said, a visit to Venkateswara Swamy is only considered complete when you pay a visit to their wife Mahalaxmi maa in Kolhapur. 
We checked out from The Paradise hotel in Mysore at 5:20am and started towards Kolhapur. The intent was to reach out accommodation in Kolhapur and seek blessings at the temple early next day. At 5:20am , Google estimated a travel of 695km to be covered in around 12 hours time. Three journey was smooth, with some bumpy rides near kolhapur. We took breaks in between for breakfast, lunch, re-fuelling and finally reached our hotel in Kolhapur by 5:30pm. While checking in, we enquired about the rush in the temple and the best time to have a quick darshan. The receptionist recommended going right away to avoid longer queues. We went to our rooms, showered and got ready to leave for the darshan by 6:15pm
The temple was 7kms away in the heart of the city. With all the traffic on the narrow lanes of the main market of Kolhapur, we reached the multi level parking lot by 6:50pm. We parked our car, where the parking attendant informed us to come back by 9pm as the parking would close after 9.
We went to the temple and joined the darshan queue at 7pm. Surprisingly, it was a fast moving queue and we were done with the darshan by 7:40pm. Nice, serene and quick darshan. We went back to the parking, got into the car and drove towards Haldiram's on the highway to have dinner.
Came back after a nice dinner and off to sleep šŸ˜“

Day 1  Pune to Srisailam  We had packed and loaded most of our bags on the previous day itself. We targetted to start by 2 am. By God's grace and cooperation from the kids we could start by 1:34am.  We had to cover ~800kms and hence this midnight travel was much needed to skip the traffic.  The roads were very smooth making the drive pleasurable and convenient. We covered around 450kms before taking a stop for breakfast at around 8:30am. It was a small outlet who could serve us tea, coffee and some dosa. We had some paranthas from home which served the purpose. The next stop was at 12:55pm for lunch at Hotel Sunrise. It was a clean place with decent food. The curry was on the spicier side and the tandoori roti was made of maida. We started at 1:35pm after having lunch to reach pathala ganga by 4:20pm. Annual road trip - Year end 2025

It's again that time of the year when majority of the globe is on annual leaves/vacation. There's code freeze across almost all domains. People try to unwind and prepare for the upcoming year with renewed zeal and enthusiasm. This year, our vacation is an extended one compared to the previous years. I will post the day wise details first as time permits and then consolidate the entire vacation into one big blog for complete reference. What we're going to cover this time around? A road trip in our XUV700 from our home in Pune covering multiple states Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra.  The high level route will look like this : PUNE --> SRISAILAM --> TIRUPATI --> PUDUCHERRY --> RAMESWARAM --> KODAIKANAL --> OOTY --> MYSURU --> KOLHAPUR

Lonavala day trip

Summer vacations are here again and the environment is a bit tensed due to the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan. After over a week of uncertainty on being able to go for vacation, thought of going out for a short trip to Lonavala. Lonavala is around 60kms from home. We started by 6 in the morning. The roads being vacant we reached tiger point around 7:30 am. This is not the season to visit Lonavala, so it wasn't crowded but still enough people for the weekend considering off season. Different stall vendors were helping their customers with tables and chairs at the view point as per their convenient location. There's a hut at the view point, we got our table setup there. The view was nice, sun was shining bright and it was mother's day too. Kids had planned a surprise cake cutting  which they had bought along supported by their dad.
