Bhigwan & Bhuleshwar

Another thought of a family outing was finally put to implementation today. The initial plan was to go to Bhigwan for bird watching.
While the research was on, there were additional thoughts and inputs.
So the final plan was to go to Bhigwan and then to Bhuleshwar temple which is on the way between Bhigwan and Pune.

We started our journey very early on Saturday morning (24th Feb 2024) around 3:50am in our XUV700. We followed the google maps which took us through magarpatta/hadapsar, fursungi along the pune-solapur highway and we reached Bhigwan by 6:05am.
The roads were all very well maintained making the drive pretty smooth. We reached "Nagare Flamingo Point" In Bhigwan. This was a non stop drive.
The person there, got the required stuff like life jackets and fuel, etc to take us for boating.  We again got into our car for another 5-min drive to the Ujani Dam where we were to boat.

It was very early in the morning and was quite cold by the Maharashtra standards. We put on our jackets followed by life jackets. Clicked some beautiful early morning pictures and then boarded the boat to start our  ride.

We started to see a huge variety of birds and yes , even flamingos in very large numbers. The birds were enjoying the water and were very playful, walking/flying/enjoying the water.

The sun rose slowly giving a bright color to some of the birds.

There were 2 temples in the dam - a shiva temple which is said to get submerged in water when the water in the dam increases. The other was a ram mandir where the idols are said to have been taken away by the mughals years back.

We then got back to the shore a bit hungry. We started driving towards Bhuleshwar temple which was again in the same direction as Pune. On the way, we stopped at a food outlet on the highway by the name of " Oskarwadi misal" to eat something.
The person was making everything fresh on order. We ordered misal, vada pav, onion pakode and tea. Onion pakode were average while everything else was good.

With tummies full, we now started for Bhuleshwar temple which is situated on a hill top. A few steep turns so be cautious while driving.

The walls are engraved with various idols which looks beautiful. Though it was a weekend, but the temple wasn't chaotic so a good option to visit.

Post the visit to Bhuleshwar temple, we were on our way back to Pune.
